Virtual Auditions | Villains Cabaret

Renegade Theatre Company is excited to announce virtual auditions for Villains Cabaret. First created in 2019, this spooky show brings together pop culture's favorite villains and iconic musical theatre numbers to create a cabaret that's to die for. We create an original script to tie the show together and encourage attendees to dress in full costume in celebration of their favorite characters.

This is an unpaid, volunteer performance opportunity in a volunteer-led community theatre environment. Rehearsals and performances will be held at Virginia-Highland Church.

As with all of our productions, a portion of net proceeds will be donated to a cause we believe in. This cabaret puts our villains on trial, so we're donating to the Georgia Justice Project (GJP), an organization that's spent over 40 years making sure the people actually facing trial get real representation. GJP provides free, holistic criminal defense to low-income individuals facing misdemeanor or felony charges in Fulton and DeKalb counties, pairing legal defense with the social support, employment help, and counseling clients need to stay out of the system for good. 

WHAT TO PREPARE

Option 1: RTC Wild Card

  1. Overwhelmed by your choices and want the RTC creative team to come up with a villain and song that's perfect for you? No problem! 

  2. Choose any musical theatre song that showcases your voice and we'll create a recommendation that fits the show perfectly.

Option 2: Pitch Your Own Concept

  1. Browse our list of villains and select your top two villains, one you'll audition for and one as a backup submission should we have multiple folks submit for the same character.

  2. Choose a musical theatre song that ties to your villain's identity, motivations, or story. Prepare a brief writeup (1-2 sentences) explaining your song selection. Be creative and have fun selecting the right song for you! Avoid choosing songs that are typically sung by your character.


SUBMIT VIRTUALLY

  1. Choose either option above, then submit your audition form below.

  2. Select your top choice of character and/or prepare 32 bars of a song from the musical theatre canon.

  3. Choose your pre-recorded accompaniment and shoot your video submission.

  4. Email your submission to info@renegadetheatreco.org by Friday, 10/2 at 10pm. 

    • We recommend uploading to YouTube and then sharing a public link to your video. 


REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE

All rehearsals and performances take place at Virginia-Highland Church at 743 Virginia Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30306. 

Please note: Performers will not be called for all days/times. We rehearse one-on-one in small time-slots and most performers will only need 2 rehearsals prior to Dress Rehearsal.
